Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is currently being diagnosed in approximately 4% of school age children and seems to impact young boys more than girls. These children can have a difficult time following instructions or focusing on tasks. They can also be reactive, impulsive, disorganized, reckless and out of control. Parenting a child with ADHD can be extremely challenging; giving rise to feelings of isolation, frustration, anger and guilt.

In adults, hyperactivity is less apparent and tends to be a more subjective experience. Most people will find difficulty focusing and staying on task. Restlessness and agitation, distractibility, disorganization, anxiety, depression, and deficits in executive functioning can be disruptive and negatively impact, even threaten, employment and relationships.

Left untreated, ADHD symptoms can last a lifetime, significantly undermining overall quality of life. Medication isn’t always effective, can have unpleasant side effects and doesn’t treat the cause. Resent research is showing that therapies that utilize the natural learning properties of neuroplasticity within the brain can result in permanent improvement of ADHD symptoms.
